2009 Daytona Beach Dream Cruise - Route & Times for Cruising plus Entertainment

Posted by Rick D'louhy

This post is prompted by comments from Lee L and Pat S. Your comments are greatly appreciated.

We've coordinated with public safety officials to ensure that cruising this year will be optimized for  participating cruisers, spectators and the community in general. We believe this will be successful.
Saturday, October 24th low speed cruising during the 2009 Daytona Beach Dream Cruise will involve a recommended cruising route along the prime tourism corridor of Atlantic Avenue (A1A), completely within the municipal limits of the City of Daytona Beach. The 2009 cruising route will be 3 miles long in each direction. This is considerably shorter than last year's 9 mile route, so cruising vehicles won't be so spread out. The recommended turnaround at the northern end will be Plaza Blvd., just north of BellairPlaza. The recommended turnaround at the southern end will be Main Street.
In addition to shortening the cruising route, we're also suggesting specific times for cruising Saturday afternoon and night. These suggested cruising times are 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m.; 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The shorter cruising distance plus targeted times for cruising should ensure desired concentration of cruising vehicles for enjoyment of cruisers and spectators alike. Anticipating this enhanced cruising, we'll publicize information about the route boundaries and times so the public will be aware as well as participants.

Saturday cruising is certainly an important component of the Daytona Beach Dream Cruise, but we're also working to provide lots of entertaining activities and lasting images of the event in addition to worthwhile cruising.

When you go to most car events, if you want a photo of your special car or truck, you have to purchase it. At the Daytona Beach Dream Cruise, we give you a really nice photo.  For 2009, we'll pay for the postage of snail mailing you this nice totally free keepsake.  Again this year, we'll make all of the high resolution digitally-enhanced official event photo images available for free for owners and others to download them and use however they wish, including making garments, enlargements (even as big as large posters) and other special items.

At the wide variety of venues you can visit on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, you'll be able to do things you typically don't encounter at other events. For instance, at the Bandshell, Friday night, there'll be a display of vehicles, plus a great band, plus we'll show a terrific historic beach racing film, all for free.

On Saturday night, we're elated to be able to show the exclusive premiere test screening of the new hot rod film everyone is talking about, DEUCE OF SPADES. This is a one time only incredible opportunity to be the very first to see the greatly anticipated hot rod period drama DEUCE OF SPADES from Filmmaker Faith Granger. This unbelievable movie presentation at 7:00 pm and 10:30 pm will be free for all in attendance. Nobody anywhere will see this film before it's seen at the Daytona Beach Dream Cruise. Bring folding chairs and blankets for this unique viewing experience at The Aquarium Restaurant & Nightclub at the Halifax Harbor Marina in downtown Daytona Beach.

We are working to alert participants and the public and we want everyone to spread the word that  the turnaround boundaries of the 2009 Daytona Beach Dream Cruise recommended Atlantic Avenue (A1A) cruising route will be Plaza Blvd. at the north and Main Street at the south and the suggested times for Sat., Oct. 24th cruising will be 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

It will help for you and many other car & truck enthusiasts to spread the word about this. The Schedule of Events page of the official event web site  http://daytonabeachdreamcruise.com/calendar.cfm already includes this written information and will soon include a map showing cruising route boundaries.

Everyone should look at http://daytonabeachdreamcruise.com/calendar.cfm as we get closer to the event to get up to date information about this year's Daytona Beach Dream Cruise. Thanks to you and all participating owners bringing terrific vehicles for everyone's enjoyment.
