Here's what's happening at the 11th Annual Daytona Beach Dream Cruise Oct. 26- 28, 2018:
Friday, Oct. 26 - 9 am to 3 pm - Riverfront Park Car Show - Special interest cars & trucks will be displayed on the lawn in Riverfront Park. A photo of your vehicle posed with the Halifax River behind it, will be taken beginning about 10:00. The photo will be enhanced and turned into a Keepsake of your vehicle at the Dream Cruise. It will then be uploaded to the website in January 2018, for downloading and printing in any size or on any item you like. Visit with our great sponsors at their tents and tables. Friday evening, Oct. 26 - Cruise to Hanksters Hot Rods at 1790 S. Nova Rd. in Daytona Beach and join the East Coast Cruisers in the parking lot for music, food truck, and fun from 4:00 - 7:00. Drivers on busy Nova Rd. just might see the crowd of great cars and turn in to check them out. Wander inside to see Hanksters impressive display of collector vehicles inside the museum/dealership.
Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27 - After the show you may choose to Cruise from Riverfront Park to A1A on the beachside and past the many great hotels, stores and restaurants. Cruise to the Hard Rock Hotel on Atlantic Ave. and check out their menu, special Dream Cruise drinks and live music on their Wave Terrace. In the evening until 7 pm both Fri. and Sat., Donnie's Donuts at 200 Granada Ave. in Ormond Beach welcomes Cruisers with a mouth-watering array of donuts to savor.
The parking lot for the Bellair Plaza shopping center is for patrons of the stores and restaurants only. The owner and management have given notice that any Dream Cruise show cars who park there may be towed away.
You may enjoy cruising across the Halifax River via scenic bridges, however, the Silver Beach/Orange Ave. Bridge is closed for replacement. Cruising should be done safely, observing speed limits and traffic rules. Beach St. heading south and Riverside Drive going north are also scenic cruising routes, as is the Ormond Beach Scenic Loop.
Before or after the show, cruise to any of the partnering restaurants for a meal, a snack, dessert or drinks. See the many choices on the insert in the goodie bag. Saturday, Oct. 27- 9 am to 3 pm - Riverfront Park Car Show - Special interest cars & trucks will be displayed on the lawn in scenic Riverfront Park. If you didn't have it taken on Friday, a photo of your vehicle will be taken with the Halifax River behind it. The photo will be enhanced and turned into a Keepsake of your vehicle at the Dream Cruise. Saturday Evening, Oct. 27 - There are 3 terrific places to go after the show on Saturday! You may have time to enjoy them all!
Chassis Crafters is having an Open House at their facility at 1011 8h St. # 204 in Holly Hill from 4:00 - 7:00. You can tour their shop and see their work in progress. You will see some amazing blower cars, too! Food & drinks will be available while you are there.
Soundcrafters is also having an Open House from 4:00-7:00 at their store at 2400 S. Ridgewood Ave. #55, South Daytona in the Sunshine Mall. They will have seminars, demonstrations, food, drinks and you can register to win a product gift certificate.
Down the Hatch Seafood Company, 4894 Front St. off A1A in Ponce Inlet will be hosting a Dream Cruise Dance Party & Car Show from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. with oldies music, dining, dancing, & staff picks for favorite vehicles. This was a popular event in the past, but for 2 years hurricane damage kept it from happening. Look for a flyer in the goody bags.
Sunday, Oct. 28 -11 am to 3 pm - There is a new venue for the Sunday gathering, due to the marina restaurant being closed. We will have our Send-off Sunday at the terrific location of Destination Daytona at U.S. 1 and I-95. They have a great covered pavilion and there will be bar-b-que and accompaniments and drinks available for purchase with proceeds going to Camp Boggy Creek.
There are shops, the large Bruce Rossmeyer's Harley Davidson store, live music and much more. Drawings begin at 3 pm for door prizes and a total of $500 in cash prizes. Simply fill out the door prize forms to be eligible for the drawings. You must be present to win. Official event t-shirts will be sold, if they are still available. You'll want to see the exciting valve cover racing on a track specially built for this occasion.There will also be an opportunity to buy tickets for a 50/50 drawing with proceeds benefitting Camp Boggy Creek.
